Whitt and I had a great long weekend, we decided to stay home instead of taking our vacation to Maryland. We spent Thursday in downtown Salt Lake City. We found out we don't know our way around there. There is so much construction and such that Whitt said "I hate driving down here." I guess if you go down there often enough you figure out your way around but we sure were struggling.
We spent the night at the Anniversary Inn. Ky and Jenn gave us a gift certificate for Christmas so we decided this would be a good time to use it. We stayed in the "Carriage Lane" suite. It was cute. The bed was in the carriage and the TV was in the end of the carriage. You could only watch the TV from the bed. It was a little bit hard to get in and out of but we mannaged okay. It had a great jacuzzi tub with a waterfall running into it.
We enjoyed our stay and we or I should say I watched "Shall we Dance". Whitt slept through most of it.
Friday we went to see Baby Pierce. That was great I held him and enjoyed every minute of it. We then decided to head to the cabin. We hadn't been up there to see how the cabin faired the winter. Everything looked good, but we found out we had run out of propane, and our water supply is a trickle. Whitt started a fire in the stove and we found many little projects to work on. Later we called Jeff and Kirst to see if they wanted to come up and spend the evening. They brought up pizza and we had a great time visiting and the kids, grandpa, and Jeff played pool. It sounded like they were having a great time. We decided not to spend the night because it was cold and we didn't know if we would be warm enough. We drove home around 10 and slept in our own beds.
Saturday I wanted to go back to the cabin and do some more projects and chill. We finally got out of town around noon. We had several stops on our way, Smiths, Lowes, DI and a stop at the mall for a belt Lynae had on hold. We finally got up to the cabin. I brought 2 movies from netflix so we decided to rest first and watch a movie. We watched "The Boy in the Stripped pajamas". It was very thought provoking. I also brought Valentines Day. It was rather stupid in my opinion.
We did a few projects around the cabin and Whitt was busy deciding on how to remedy our water problem. We are supposed to have Pine Tree Water but our "Pee" stream really doesn't cut it. You can't even fill up a sink to wash dishes let alone take a shower or run the dishwasher.
We thought maybe Phil and Alesha would come up but we didn't hear back from them. They really do have a lot on their plate right now, we just thought maybe this would be a good diversion for them and the boys. But no one came so we watched another movie about the Russian sniper during world war II. It was a good movie.
We didn't have heat from the furnace but we brought our trusty little "Heat Surge" fireplace to put in the bedroom in case it got really cold. We really didn't need it. We slept with flannel sheets a quilt and a sleeping bag and we were toasty warm.
Sunday we just enjoyed ourselves, did a few minor little projects, hang the bathroom mirror, hang a few pictures, hang the bathroom towel rack. We really did have a great stay-cation. Sorry to see it come to and end but Whitt had to go back to work at the airport Sunday night so we left around 4:00 so he could get home in time to take a nap before work.
